ABOUT GEM AND STONE
Hi, I'm Amanda!
Gem and Stone was born in 2019 in my parents kitchen. I would stock different candle brands in my first hair salon, and began refilling them once empty. I started to source different jars and experiment with different fragrances to suit different areas of the home and in the salon, and discovered how scent can really create a mood and hold a memory.
I soon realised that I loved this craft of creating beautiful atmospheres and from here Gem and Stone was born.
The name Gem and Stone didn't become from gemstones itself, but from the Gem of our family. Nanna Gemma passed away in 2012 from that terrible thing called breast cancer, and theres not a single day that she goes forgotten. She truly was a gem. Gemstones have now become a symbol of her.
The stone, our rock Nannu. I actually poured my first ever candle on his birthday in 2019 which is quite a coincidence. The name Gem and Stone could not have been more of a perfect fit.
I have been pouring candles ever since. It's become a passion, not just something i do to make money. it was never intended for that. It's my creative outlet away from hair, it's my calm.
In 2025 my partner of 12 and a half years (Daniel) and I got married. Of course Gem and Stone was going to be incorporated across the styling. From all the event candles to each of the bomboniere, walking into the room and experiencing for myself the warmth and atmosphere that my candles had created was second to none.
The joy of creating something meaningful for the people we love, I realised I wanted to help others create those same moments in their homes and celebrations.
2026 has now brought a whole new meaning to my candle pouring. It means so much more now. In March this year I gave birth to our beautiful son Hugo-Amias. I have more passion and intention to my candle making than ever before.
A chance for me to stay at home and create whilst looking after our son has given me so much more clarity of what Gem and Stone actually means to me. Pouring candles isnt just about "having a nice candle" and "oh that smells nice", but more of "oh that reminds me of...".
Gem and Stone will now be a step into my world. A story of my journey. More than just candles, but keepsakes of scent and memory. Every candle has a story. Every story has a scent. Every scent has a vessel.

Our candles are made from 100% natural soy wax, non-toxic fragrance oils, and uncoated, natural wood wicks. We use only the highest quality ingredients to ensure a clean, safe burn.
Our candles have varying burn times depending on the size. For example, our Vogue Grande candles offer approximately 80+ hours of burn time.
Yes! We prioritise sustainability by using soy wax, a renewable resource, and eco-conscious materials. Our candles are also free from harmful toxins, ensuring a safe and environmentally friendly experience.
For optimal performance, we recommend burning your candle for 4-6 hours at a time and ensuring the wick stays centred. Always trim the wick before each use and keep your candle away from drafts to prevent uneven burning.
To ensure a long-lasting burn, make sure to trim the wick to about 1/4 inch before each use and allow the wax to melt evenly across the surface during each burn. This helps avoid tunnelling and extends the life of your candle.
